Tree Planting

Tree planting

One of the key objectives in the Forest Plan is to increase tree cover in the Community Forest area by 30%. This is quite a tall order and equates to approximately 15 million trees!

So far, with the support of local community groups, local authorities, and landowners, we have planted well over 1 million trees via community tree planting events close to where people live, contracted planting of bigger woodlands, school grounds projects and through Stewardship and Woodland Grant schemes.

In the last couple of years we have planted trees at Shaw Forest Park in West Swindon, Purton Wood adjacent to Mouldon Hill, Oxleaze Wood and Nightingale Wood at South Marston, Coppidthorn Meadow in Shrivenham and are planning further events this coming year.

Tree plantingLook on our What’s On pages for new events during the planting season to see if there is a tree plant planned near you that you would like to support. All our events are free and suitable for all the family.
