Introduction

The future of the Great Western Community Forest, as set out in the 1994 Forest Plan, relies heavily on the support of its funding partners and the integration of the project within local authorities' planning systems which is key to the delivery of the Community Forest objectives.

Development has the potential to incorporate significant environmental social and economic gains for the community. Close integration between regional planning guidance, strategic and local plans, the Community Forest plan and other key plans such as local Agenda 21, are vital if the aspirations of the Community Forest and sustainable development generally, are to be achieved.
