Getting Involved

Over the past years, the Forest Partnership has participated in;

  • Developing local and regional policy
  • Assisted over 100 farmers to diversify and manage their land for public benefits
  • Achieved over £3 million of inward investment through grants and sponsorship
  • Actively engaged over 25,000 school children in environmental education
  • Planted over 1 million trees to create woodland for biodiversity, recreation and enhanced landscape
  • Created over 250km of new/improved access routes close to urban centres for leisure, commuting and health
  • Involved over 200 community groups in planning, managing and using green spaces close to where they live

We now wish to further develop relations with the Business sector with a view to securing an ongoing commitment to the Forest’s development.

A well maintained landscape sends an upbeat visual message to prospective customers and business and helps to attract and retain employees and their families, creating a healthier, more motivated workforce.

By engaging employees in the GWCF, whether for health purposes, recreation, team building, stress release or in terms of caring for their working environment, the Great Western Community Forest team will be meeting its own objectives as well as those of the business it is engaging.

Whilst the GWCF project is not purely about conservation, it is supported by partners who are. By working with these partners it will benefit all those involved.
