Introduction

In March 2005, GWCF entered a two-year period of transition funding that is administered through the Forestry Commission. Contribution to core funding by the Forestry Commission will terminate in March 2007 and contributions to core activities by Local Authority partners have been secured beyond this period, however, as Local Authorities are constantly under pressure to achieve savings, it is difficult to anticipate exact levels of financial support in the future.

The Succession Planning Framework sets out how GWCF works towards realising a secure financial basis for the Forest Team and hence future Forest activities. It also provides a context for actions and a structure against which to monitor and review progress. Hence, Community Forest activities until March 2007 are by and large governed by this framework.
